Woman Who Disappeared On Condor Ferry Named

Ebla Yusuf was travelling across the Channel on the Condor Clipper from Portsmouth on Saturday (22 July) and has not been seen since.

The slow-speed ferry was travelling to Jersey and Guernsey from Portsmouth and it is believed Ms Yusuf boarded on foot.

After realising that Ebla Yusuf did not disembark the boat, the Clipper's crew thoroughly searched the ferry, although they did not find the missing woman.

Her last known sighting was around 2:00 pm, whilst the boat was in UK waters.

The coastguards and several aircraft conducted an extensive search of the Channel to try and find Ms Yusuf, but after some time the operation was called off.

Police in Jersey and Guernsey are appealing for any information that may help with their investigation.

This includes anyone who may have spoken to Ebla before or during the journey.

Condor Ferries says its thoughts are with the family and friends of Ms Yusuf.

Guernsey’s Assistant Harbour Master James Way said at the time of her disappearance:

“An extensive area was searched as we did not know exactly when or where the person may have entered the water. As the survival time for someone in the water in normal clothing has now expired, the search has been terminated. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the missing person at this difficult time”.
