WATCH: Tony Hawk's Special Message For Jersey

The legendary Tony Hawk has recorded a video to call on Jersey's government to build more skateparks!

He was asked by Natalie Mayer in the summer to record a video to help persuade islanders, and the government, of the benefits of skateparks.

After a few requests, and a bit of a wait, it arrived!

"OK...so it's a bit late... and no one told Tony that we're Jersey ISLAND, not New Jersey, but still, Tony Hawk stood in front of a camera for 42 seconds of his megalife, and put some of his energy into our skateparks." - Natalie Mayer.

The message comes a fortnight after plans were approved to build a new park at Les Quennevais.

Contractors are being invited to apply to tender for the job of building it.

Applications will close on Friday 7 January, with the successful company being appointed shortly afterwards

The government says the plan is to have the new park open by late Spring 2022.

An application has also been lodged for a park at South Hill Gardens.

The Assistant Minister with responsibility for sport, Deputy Hugh Raymond, says money is allocated in the Government Plan for it and they are committed to delivering it.

The government has also committed to building satellite facilities elsewhere in the island.
