Essex Police have released a tape of their interview with former Jersey choirmaster Kenneth Francis.
The 72-year-old was this week jailed for 12 years for sexually abusing four young boys in the 1970s, whilst he was a teacher at a boarding school in Chelmsford.
The ex Director of Music at Jersey's Town Church was found guilty at trial of committing 15 counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency.
The offences came to light in April 2017 when one of the victims came forward. Francis was removed from his position in Jersey and went to live in Japan.
During sentencing his defence lawyer Jacqueline Carey spoke of his time in the island saying that for “30 years or the best part thereof he was a highly regarded man”, and that there was an “absence of offending” for this period.
The recordings show his repeated denials to investigators.
Francis will serve half his sentence in prison in the UK and the rest in on licence.
