The Government of Jersey is highlighting issues in the island's transport industry, exploring ideas on how islanders and businesses can be more sustainable when commuting.
‘Tackling Transport - The transition to a sustainable transport network’ explores the current climate emergency and how Jersey’s transport sector is contributing to the greenhouse gas emissions.
Islanders are able to take part in talks from several speakers throughout the day until 4.30 pm this afternoon (10 November).
The one-day-event takes place during COP26, which is the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Representatives from the island attended the conference in Glasgow last week to highlight Jersey's contributions to help ease climate change.
Leaders from the Channel Islands met the UK Climate Change Minister at the climate summit and agreed to extending the Paris Agreement to the islands.
Grateful to meet with Minister @GregHands to mark the UK’s intention to extend UK ratification of the Paris Agreement to the Crown Dependencies. We look forward to furthering our joint working on climate and sustainability pic.twitter.com/Azklj2jddT

Workshops taking place include talks on tackling transport, workplace travel plans and Jersey Post's transition to a sustainable transport fleet.
Senior Policy Officer for the Government of Jersey, Louisa Phillips, told Channel 103 that the event is as important for businesses as it is for islanders themselves.
"We are encouraging businesses to attend, to help them understand what it is as a government what we are trying to achieve with tackling transport.
This is a part of our preferred strategy as part of the carbon neutral road map which is coming out later this year.
But also, to show them what alternatives there are to the traditional petrol and diesel vehicles that they may or may not be using within their businesses."
There are stands along Broad Street for islanders to discuss sustainable transport options.
Representatives from Big Maggy's, 4Group and Evie are available to answer questions from islanders.
Examples on show include electric bicycles and mopeds.
The full schedule for the event, including the full list of stands, can be found here.
