Storm Gerrit Disrupts Condor Services

There’s disruption to post-Christmas travel as several ferry crossing have been cancelled due to high winds and rough seas caused by Storm Gerrit.

Condor says it has had to reaccommodate passengers and freight on different sailings.

Days of bad weather mid-Channel has left both conventional and high speed services unable to operate to and from France and the UK.

The disruption has come at a very busy time of year for travel as people try to get home after Christmas or away for a new year break.

Some passengers have claimed on social media that the earliest service they can rebook on to is 4 January.

Condor says is hopes services will restart this evening (28 Dec)

"We anticipate that Islander, Goodwill and Clipper will operate from Portsmouth overnight and tomorrow morning and one additional St Malo-Jersey-St Malo round trip has been scheduled on Friday.

Passengers between Guernsey and France are being offered a transfer via Clipper and Voyager. All those affected are being proactively notified of the changes and making plans as best we can, given the current forecasts.”

The Goodwill is due to bring freight into Jersey at 4am on Friday and to Guernsey at 8am, with further supplies expected early on Saturday.

While Storm Gerrit has passed, unsettled conditions are expected to continue into the new year.

The Voyager crossings to St Malo on Saturday (30 Dec) have been cancelled.
