St Helier Pontoon Project Completed

The installation of pontoons in the St Helier marina has been completed.

Boatowners are now using the new facilities, which consist of additional eight to ten metre berths and space for accommodation.

Electricity and water supplies are also included.

Ports of Jersey hopes to install six one-bedroom floating pods.

A planning application was submitted last October which has been accepted.

The new pontoons have been installed in the south west corner of the marina, where they was a space.

A bridgelink has also been added, which was previously used on Albert Pier.

Before it was installed, it was refurbished with glass reinforced plastic and new lighting to bring it up to required standards.

The bridgelink provides access from the quay alongside the RNLI station.

Work on Elizabeth Harbour's west berth has also been completed.

The berth was taken out of service while maintenance was carried out, as it was deemed the old vertical fenders had reached the end of their lifespan and needed to be replaced.

The work has taken longer than expected, due to bad weather.  While it was going on, only one ferry could dock at a time and numerous Condor sailings had to be scheduled.

Two shorter fenders have also been installed in the berth to accommodate the smaller vessels used by Manche Iles Express.
