St Helier Peace Trail Unveiled

A new walking guide showing off St Helier’s links with peace and social justice has been unveiled.

Jersey Heritage has worked with local secondary schools to produce a ‘peace trail’, and short films on 15 locations around town.

Lucy Layton, Jersey Heritage’s Outreach Curator says it’s a first for the island:

“Many towns and cities across the world have created peace trails to explore the less well-known stories of peace and social justice connected with their historic sites and monuments.

“The appropriate time to launch Jersey’s own Peace Trail is the centenary of the Armistice – the ending of what was, at the time, hoped to be ‘the war to end all wars’, such was the scale of destruction and loss of life.”

The project was funded by the Channel Islands Lottery and Association of Jersey Charities.

You can find out more about the project on the Jersey Heritage website.
