The Constable of St Helier is asking for patience during roadworks in the island's capital.
Business leaders have complained that numerous repairs are affecting trade.
Simon Crowcroft says he understands the frustrations but that it is important improvement are made.
He says lots of work is scheduled for this time of year, ahead of summer and to avoid the worst of the winter weather.
Some of the repairs are being done at short notice because they are due to damage caused by Storm Ciarán last November.
Constable Crowcroft said: "Many of the improvements are taking place directly in response to parishioners’ needs and I am hopeful that by late spring Peter Street, Cleveland Road, Halkett Street, Seale Street, Charles Street and those being worked on by the Government will all have been given the improvements they need."
