Record Number Of Jersey Jobs Filled

A record number of job positions have been filled in the island, with over 65,000 people in the workforce by June this year.

The private sector accounts for the majority of employment, with 55,700 jobs filled, with the public sector employing 9,300.

Alongside this, the public sector saw the biggest increase relative to size, with 4.9% more jobs filled compared to June 2022.

The government's core workforce is made up of a vast majority of the 430 extra jobs in Jersey.

The Education Department had 230 more positions, the Chief Operating Office had 70 more positions and Infrastructure and Housing were up by 50.

An extra 930 jobs were found in the private sector in the 12 months to June, an increase of 1.7%

Hospitality and private education and health saw the biggest jump in filled positions, with a higher number of jobs compared to before the pandemic.

However, retail saw 130 fewer jobs compared with June 2022.

Jersey's workforce has increased by just over 3,000 jobs since 2018. The government's workforce has jumped by 20% in the last five years.
