Pubs Can Open Early For World Cup Final

Pubs and bars will be able to open an hour early this Sunday (20 August) to screen the Women's World Cup final.

The Bailiff is allowing licensed venues to open at 10am, so customers can see the build up to the big match between England and Spain.

The Lionesses are just one game away from glory.

Sarina Weigman's side are into the showpiece for the first time and will make footballing history if they lift the trophy in Sydney this weekend.

Pubs and bars can open their doors at 10am, and start serving alcohol from 10.30am.

"The Lionesses have already done marvellously in this challenging World Cup, facing very strong competition.

It therefore is entirely appropriate to enable islanders who wish to come together in bars and pubs to watch what is set to be a memorable World Cup Final.

By bringing forward opening times of licensed venues, I hope this will ensure patrons are seated for the match and that venues are afforded more time to serve their customers before the start of the game.’  - Sir Tim Le Cocq, Jersey's Bailiff.

Channel 103 will be live from Chambers, where the game is being shown on its 7ft screen.
