Posties prepare for peak in Christmas parcels

Jersey Post has published its last posting dates for this Christmas, and is urging us to send early to make sure gifts arrive in time.

It is expecting to handle 30% more mail this month and next.

Mondays and Tuesday are the busiest days for posties, who deliver up to 65,000 items on those days at peak season.

Julie Thomas, Managing Director (Postal & Logistics) at Jersey Post advises islanders to post early to all destinations to avoid the festive rush.

“We’re ready for a busy peak period. We’ve recruited extra staff and cleared the decks to increase capacity for larger items.

"Our posties will be delivering everything from food to clothes to bikes, through our partnerships with Royal Mail, Amazon, DPD, UPS, Yodel and others."

Opening hours are being extended at Broad Street and Rue de Pres for the festive season.

A booklet will be dropping through letterboxes with the last posting dates, and they can also be found on the Jersey Post website.

We're being advised to use SecureDrop, nominating a safe place on our property to have parcels left if we're not home to sign for them.

Christmas-themed stamps go on sale on 11 November, and have an international flavour for 2025, celebrating popular dishes from the island's communities including French yule log, Polish beetroot soup, Portuguese cod and British turkey.

Children can post their letter to Santa before 13 December. Adding a name and address will ensure his elves can reply.
