The names of the first seven islanders missing since Saturday’s Pier Road explosion have been released by police.
The explosion in the early hours of Saturday (10 December) led to a block of Andium flats at Haut du Mont collapsing, leaving five islanders dead and four still unaccounted for.
The families, supported by officers within the Family Liaison Team, made the decision this afternoon (Monday 12 December) to release their identities as the recovery operation continues.
The names are:
Peter Bowler (72 years)
Raymond (Raymie) Brown (71 years)
Romeu and Louise De Almeida (67 & 64 years)
Derek and Sylvia Ellis (61 & 73 years)
Billy Marsden (63 years)
Derek Ellis worked at Normans in Commercial Buildings, St Helier. Martin Costford, Commercial and Marketing Manager said, "It is with deep sadness and regret to inform you that our much-loved colleague and friend, Derek 'Del Boy' Ellis and his wife Sylvia were reported amongst those missing residents at Haut du Mont flats on Pier Road.
"Our thoughts are with the family at this tragic time."
