Jersey's Chief of Police has given everyone on the force's staff a commendation 'for their commitment and dedication' during the Covid pandemic.
Robin Smith presented the first 'challenge coins' to celebrate the Police's covid response - nationally known as Operation Talla - on Friday:
"It’s been an extraordinary two years. I'm so proud of how my team has responded to the threat of the pandemic.
These really were unprecedented times but typically they just got on with the important job of keeping the islanders safe by adapting to new ways of working with the minimum of fuss for which they have earned my deep appreciation.
Operational Talla also highlighted the strength of our close partnership with the Honorary Police who did an equally remarkable job. I am delighted to also recognise their efforts by giving them commemorative coins."
They are due to be given to all officers and staff over the coming weeks.
It marks the first time in the history of policing in Jersey the entire force has received an award.
The honours were funded by a private donation from author and Jersey resident, Peter James.
