Parishes Squad Ready For First Tournament

The Parishes of Jersey are in England to take part in its first-ever Non-FIFA home nations football tournament.

The new Jersey side will play Yorkshire today and Chagos Islands tomorrow in the Heritage Cup.

16 players have made the trip, including former Muratti captain Luke Watson.

Manager James Scott says it's a great opportunity for his players.

"We're trying to give players opportunities and experiences to get on a plane and play in different locations.

"I know this is a bit closer to home with the tournament being in Yorkshire, but who knows what the future holds for possible playing further afield."

The club was set up last year to join CONIFA, which is an organisation for all organisations outside FIFA.

A JustGiving page has been set up to raise enough money to travel and take part in more competitions in the future.

Both of this weekend's games kick-off at 3pm.
