Police, Honorary and DVS officers are out doing road checks across Jersey today (30 June).
They are stopping unroadworthy vehicles and making sure motorists are obeying the rules of the road.
Police say 'the goal is not merely to issue penalties but rather to encourage road users to recognise the importance of driving within safe limits, preventing accidents and preserving lives'.
DVS will be looking for faulty brakes, broken lights and worn-out tyres.
Key accident blackpots are being targeted.
"This focus will be one of several over the next few months which will look at other key areas in an ongoing effort to make our roads safer for everyone."
