Manche Îles Express Sailings Suspended

Manche Îles Express has suspended sailings between the Channel Islands and France indefinitely.

The ferry operator says it's because traveling outside of France is currently restricted to just those with a "compelling reason", as well as self-isolation and border testing requirements imposed in Jersey and Guernsey.

In a statement, the company says both it - and the regional government in Normandy - have decided it isn't viable to operate sailings this summer:

"Faced with these constraints and uncertainties, and taking into account the significant consequences of the health crisis... the Département de la Manche, in agreement with Manche Îles Express, determined that it was not feasible to propose rotations in 2021."

Any passengers due to travel, or with vouchers issued during last year's disruption, will be able to postpone their trip until 2022 or request a refund.
