LibertyBus Increases Prices

People in Jersey will pay more to travel on the bus from Monday 25 March, and a new route will be introduced.

LibertyBus says it is raising its prices due to rising costs and inflation.

The company's tickets will change to:

  • Contactless Adult £2.35 - an increase of 10p
  • Cash Adult £2.80 - an increase of 10p
  • Contactless Child £1.12 - an increase of 4p
  • Pay As You Go (PAYG) Child £1.10 - an increase of 7p

The Monthly Bus Pass will also go up to £52 for 31 Days of unlimited travel when bought online or through the LibertyBus app.

LibertyBus says this increase brings the monthly pass to the same price as in 2012, working out to around £1.68 per day.

A new bus route from the bus company has also been announced.

The new Route 30 will start at Liberation Station and travel through Wellington Hill, Five Oaks, St Martin and on to Gorey.

It is being trialled for the summer period, starting at 08:25, with its final service leaving the bus station at 13:45.

LibertyBus hopes this will give visitors more opportunities to go to the Zoo.

The new spring/summer timetable will be launched on Monday 25 March and can be viewed on the LibertyBus website.

It will include these changes:

  • A new early Route 4 will be introduced from Trinity to town at 06:30;
  • Route 8 will be introduced on a Sunday for the first time on a trial run;
  • From 27 May, Route 12A via the new Enid Quenault Health Centre will increase to half-hourly until the end of August;
  • BeachBus will be out again, as well the Route 14 to St Brelade's Bay;
  • Route 15 is being increased on Saturdays to every 15 minutes;
  • There will be a re-routing of Route 21 which will operate via New Street rather than St Saviour's Road;
  • The Route 23 extension from Jersey Zoo to Trinity has been scrapped due to lack of use;
  • Route 23A is getting a re-jig, so Trinity will get an evening service for the first time;
  • The Jersey War Tunnels route will start again on 25 March.

Kevin Hart, Director for LibertyBus, says it is easier than ever for islanders to travel around Jersey using the bus.

"This is the most comprehensive spring/summer timetable we have delivered over the last 11 years, offering more routes and more frequent services than ever before.

We continue to work with our customers and listen to their feedback so we can continually develop the service.

Whilst the spring/summer service is only just about to begin, the work will start to begin on the winter timetable very shortly, so we welcome any feedback."
