Photos of young islanders holding images of their relatives who survived Jersey's Occupation will go on show in the Royal Square this May.
Former Education Minister Rod Bryans is working on a new project called 'Legacy', which aims to keep the memory of Occupation survivors alive.
For the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, islanders are being asked to share the stories of their ancestors, to remember the sacrifices they made all those years ago.
Mr Bryans especially wants to see younger generations taking part:
"Our ancestors live on through us. It's really about telling those stores.
"I read somewhere, years ago, that the second time you die is when people stop using your name.
"We want to carry on the stories of the Occupation, long after the people living through it have disappeared."
An example of the photos Rod Bryans would like to capture for Legacy
Rod wants the images and interviews that are collated to provoke conversations between the generations about sacrifice and survival
"The debt that we owe these other people who survived these other atrocities...
"My grandfather who fought in the First World War was wounded, and if it hadn't been for a German surgeon, possibly, he could have died.
"But, his survival meant my dad existed, and my dad's survival of the Second World War meant I could be born any my children and grandchildren could exist.
".. My dad would talk very little about those wars, but the bits I did hear became very important to me."
An exhibition in Nantes, France similar to the Legacy project planned for the Royal Square this May,
The keen photographer wants to keep the project as local as possible.
Prisoners at La Moye will be helping to build wooden pedestals for the exhibition in Royal Square.
Jersey historian, Ian Ronayne is writing the stories and conducting the interviews, whilst Mr Bryans curates the images.
"The important thing for me is that people can contact me and tell me about their situation and how they felt about their relative surviving the Occupation and what Liberation means to them."
