June 2026 events planned for Commonwealth Games Baton Relay

Jersey will host the King's Baton Relay next summer ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Instead of a single baton touring the Commonwealth from Buckingham Palace to the opening ceremony, each of the 74 nations and territories will get their own baton to personalise.

The change has been made to reflect the Games Federation's ambitions of making the event more environmentally and financially sustainable.

The baton will be decorated with Jersey inspired artwork and there will be events throughout the first week of June to highlight sport, sustainability and community.

The King’s Baton Relay commenced from Buckingham Palace earlier this month, and Trinidad and Tobago have since started the celebrations, as part of the relay’s initial Caribbean tour.

Jersey's week of the 500 day pre-games tour will be 1 - 6 June 2026.

The Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey will also join a global effort to tackle plastic pollution, taking part in a beach clean-up in support of the RCS Commonwealth Clean Oceans Plastics Campaign.

More details of Jersey relay leg activities and plans to decorate the baton will be given nearer the time.

The relay will conclude on 23 July 2026 at the opening ceremony of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
