Jersey Teenager Shortlisted For CI Sports Award

Hannah Silcock is the only athlete from Jersey in the running for Channel Islands Sports Personality of the Year.

In 2023, Hannah Silcock became Jersey's first-ever women's British champion in the sport, after winning the British Home Nations Championship.

She also shone on her Island Games debut, winning gold in the women's singles and team event before adding two more medals in the women's and team doubles.

Three athletes from Guernsey complete the line-up. They are: cyclist Sam Culverwell, triathlete Josh Lewis, and footballer Alex Scott.

Guernsey cyclist Sam Culverwell:

Sam Culverwell enjoyed some excellent races on home soil during the Island Games in July.

He got five medals in total, including two golds in the individual town criterium and a memorable sprint to the line in the road race.

He also finished third at the British Gravel Championships in September.

Guernsey Triathlete Josh Lewis:

Josh Lewis got gold on the opening day of the island games, racing around Rocquaine, and added two silvers later on.

He also finished fifth at the Ironman World Championships a few months later - which is the highest finish by a British athlete for five years.

Guernsey footballer Alex Scott:

Alex Scott achieved his footballing dream in 2023 - becoming a Premier League player.

He signed for Bournemouth in the summer following another impressive season at Bristol City which saw him named as The Championship's Young Player of the Season.
