Jersey Pledges £360,000 Aid For Ukraine

Jersey has pledged £360,000 worth of aid to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

The money will be split evenly, with the Red Cross, the UN's refugee agency - the UNHCR, and the OCHA - the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs - all receiving £120,000.

That's in addition to a public appeal launched by the Bailiff for islanders and organisations to donate.

Deputy Carolyn Labey, the International Development Minister, says Jersey isn't too small to make a difference:

"Jersey may be a small country, but we will not stand by while innocent people suffer the effects of a barbaric and totally unnecessary war.

We have a tradition of helping others, just as we ourselves were helped in 1945, and we will do all we can for the heroic people of Ukraine."
