Jersey Mum's Charity Challenge In Father's Memory

A Jersey mum is doing a charity challenge this weekend, in memory of her dad who lost his life to brain cancer.

Helen Day's father passed away last summer after a six-month battle with the disease.

The mum of three now wants to channel her grief into making a difference, by fundraising for charity Brain Tumour Research.

This Sunday, which would have been her father's birthday, Helen is starting her day with a half marathon.

She will then head to the gym to take on 49 fitness activities, such as press ups or squats, in honour of her Dad's birth year - 1949.

Helen hopes listeners and other supporters of her challenge will get involved with this part of her day, by sending suggestions of what activities she should do.

She's invited people to send their fitness activity ideas to her, by adding a comment to this article on social media or by leaving a reply on her GoFundMe Me Page.

The charity challenger is also appealing for donations, to reach her new target of £10,000.

Helen Day tells us why she's taken this challenge on:

"I really sadly lost my dad in the summer, it was really tough and it really hit my hard.

He was my hero, I obviously was grieving, but decided to use my grief for good.

The survival rate for brain cancer is very low, after my dad was diagnosed, 6 months later he was dead.

Brain tumour research gets little funding, so I decided to channel my grief into raising funds for Brain Tumour Research."
