
Jersey Airport has been evacuated this morning (5 March) following a 'security threat' and police are asking people to avoid the area
Officers have been deployed to the airport, and have warned of disruption to flights.
A short statement says:
"Police are currently attending an incident at Jersey Airport.
At this time, the airport is being evacuated. There will be disruption to all flights until further notice. Please avoid attending the airport until further notice. Updates will be provided as soon as possible.
Susanne was checked in to a flight to Gatwick and had passed through security when the alarms sounded at around 6.30am. She told Channel 103:
"We were all evacuated to a side locked area, because we are all airside. Then after about half an we were evacuated the the car park where we met the police who said 'there has been some sort of bomb threat, everywhere is going to be searched, you need to leave the car parks. if you got a car go home, or go to Strive (health club) which has opened their doors to let people in. This is going to be quite a long time."
A statement from Jersey Airport says:
"The airport has been evacuated due to a security incident and we are working with States of Jersey Police to manage the incident. Airport Operations are currently suspended. We are advising passengers to contact their airlines for updates.
"We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the cooperation and understanding of passengers during this time. Our top priority is ensuring the safety and security of everyone at the airport."

Airport Operations Director Ashely Maggs said the airport would reopen at 11.30am
"We had received information that we had to take very seriously, and we had to deem it a credible at the time. Therefore, the response was full evacuation.
We will be moving into recovery.
"Airlines will be looking at the schedules, and having to make decisions. Some may cancel, others will put extra flights on.
"We are advising passengers to keep in contact directly with their airlines.
"We will keep the airport open and will be working closely with airlines on that."
