LibertyBus has added a new feature to its app, allowing people to buy bus tickets.
The bus company has introduced the function to speed up queue times.
It enables passengers to scan their QR code when they board.
Kevin Hart, CEO, says the company wants to make boarding times as quick as possible.
"Those few seconds, when you're boarding a bus outside the bus station of 40 to 50 people, can make a difference of a minute or so.
Every little helps, as they say, and we're looking forward to seeing how everybody takes to the app and if they change the way they buy their tickets."
Not only does the company expect wait times to be reduced, but there are other perks of the digital move.
Islanders will be able to bulk buy 10 tickets for a discounted price, as well as access seasonal and monthly passes.
The idea of 'gifting' tickets has also been introduced, meaning if somebody forgets their card or cash, they can ring or text someone to buy them a ticket and send over the QR code by email.
"The app has been in production for the last 10 months, just giving tracking, and moving to buying tickets is the next step.
You've got the QR code, you're literally just getting on, scanning the QR code, and getting on."
