Four people in Jersey have been included in the King's Birthday Honours List.

Three islanders have been made MBEs for their services to the island's community. 

This includes Richard Robins for his work with Shelter Trust in Jersey. 

Richard and his team provide accommodation and support for homeless people and give out around 100,000 meals to those in need every year.

The charity trustee also organises the annual Soup Kitchen in the Royal Square which raises thousands through soup sales, and the Tinathon at West's Centre which gathers donations of canned food.

Mr Robins tells us despite his years of service, he was very shocked to be honoured in this way: 

"I am only one of many, many people who give up their time for Shelter. 

"There's a little bit of imposter syndrome as to why I'm getting this award. I feel I'm getting it on behalf of everybody.

"My best memories are of Soup Kitchen, which I've helped to organise now for the last 12 years."

Rose Pallot, previously Rose Helie, will also be receiving an MBE for her service to communities through Mustard Seed Jersey. 

Mrs Pallot founded the refugee support charity in 1998.

Since then, she's led her team of volunteers to collect and deliver thousands of donations - including annual Christmas shoeboxes - to refugees in Romania, and more recently Ukraine.

Rose Pallot says she owes this MBE to the support she's received from islanders: 

"All the way along it has been a team of people and without that team of people, I just couldn't have done it.

"Especially my late husband Phil Pallot. He taught me so much.  We ran the charity together for the first 10 - 12 years and that was a steep learning curve for me and I learnt so much through him.

"He was a fare bit older than I am and he lived in Jersey through the Occupation. He understood what it was to go to bed hungry, he understood what it was to have holes in his shoes and its something that I never came across. 

"He could relate far better to the people in need than I could,"

Leslie Norman will also be honoured with an MBE for his work with people with learning disabilities in Jersey. 

Mr Norman worked at Les Amis for 40 years. The charity seeks to empower those in the island with learning disabilities and help them reach their full potential.

Leslie Norman said he was completely taken aback by being awarded an MBE: 

"It's a bit of a shock really, I was really not expecting it and I had no idea I was put up for it.

"I do feel very honoured, its a role while I've enjoyed a lot, spending 40 years at Les Amis. 

"In fairness, I do feel a bit guilty because its all been such fun, it's an honour but its something I've very much enjoyed and to get an award for something I've enjoyed- well that sounds like a very good deal to me,"

The British Empire Medal (BEM) will be presented to Ronald Perchard for his service to the Jersey Sea Cadet Corps. 

Mr Perchard has been with the cadets for 57 years, where he worked his way up. 

The 85-year-old was absolutely gobsmacked finding out he'd been honoured in this way: 

"At the time I didn't know what the hell to say apart from 'thank you'. 

"The next day I got another call telling me its not a wind-up and I really am going to get the British Empire Medal!"
