Dr Muscat's Message To Parents

Parents in Jersey are being reassured schools and childcare settings remain safe, and it's important their children attend.

Deputy Medical Officer of Health, Dr Ivan Muscat MBE, has written to families ahead of the half-term holidays, and just as a third class bubble has gone into isolation after a child tested positive for COVID-19.

The letter has been circulated to parents via school emails.

Dr Muscat begins by commending them and their children for 'amazing resilience and adaptability' and thanking them for supporting the measures in place.

Of the recent cases that have closed classes at three primary schools, Dr Muscat says "I would like to reassure you that the processes we have in place to manage such cases are robust."

He ends with a message about Halloween, saying families should carefully consider which activities they take part in, avoid trick or treating, follow public health guidance and keep track of who they spend time within the holidays, in case the information is needed for contact tracing.
