Domestic abuser jailed for more than three and a half years

William Watton-Roberts has been jailed for three years and seven months for numerous crimes, including seriously assaulting a woman.

The 33-year-old repeatedly punched his victim in the head and face, bit her face, grabbed her by the neck and pulled her hair.

The violent attack last August left the woman with severe facial injuries.

Watton-Roberts was charged and remanded in custody, before pleading guilty to grave and criminal assault in October 2023.

Today (3 June), the Royal Court sentenced him to three years in prison.

He also received a Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) with notification requirements for five years.

After investigating his mobile phone, officers found footage of a man being sentenced in the Royal Court.

Watton-Roberts admitted to recording the footage and sending it to people, pleading guilty to an offence of Contempt of Court, which gave him another six months in jail - to run consecutively.

He was also sentenced to a month (consecutive) for receiving stolen goods and a week (concurrent) for possessing cannabis.
