Couple Rescued From Plemont Beach

A couple were rescued from Plemont beach in Jersey after being cut off by the tide.

They had been exploring the caves on Saturday (10 February) when they found they couldn't get back to the steps.

They  climbed onto the old landing stage and waited to be rescued.

A member of the public raised the alarm, and both St Helier RNLI lifeboats and the Fire Service inshore boat were called on by Jersey Coastguard.

A Coastguard Duty Officer reached the scene and lowered lifejackets down to the couple using a line.

Firefighters made a successful cliff rescue to bring the pair to safety.

People are reminded to check tide times before exploring the island's coastline.
