Coronavirus Patient Admitted To Hospital

A person is being treated in hospital for coronavirus, for the first time since July.

The latest figures, published last night, reveal that five new cases were detected in Jersey on Friday, but two others recovered.

It brings the number of active cases in the island up to 45.

23 of them have shown COVID-19 symptoms while the other 22 are asymptomatic.

A government statement says the patient in the hospital is receiving the appropriate care, and full contact tracing has taken place.

127,554 PCR swab tests have been carried out in Jersey so far.

126,367 have come back negative, compared to just 449 positive.
