Christmas Lottery Prize Tops £415,000

The top prize in this year's Channel Islands Christmas Lottery is up to £415,192.

It's set to keep rising as more tickets are sold.

Organisers say dropping the price of a ticket back to £2 seems to be making a difference this year.

They were sold at £3 each last year, to try and increase the maximum prize - however, it led to fewer tickets being sold compared to previous years.

Jon Taylor, from Guernsey's States Trading Group, says the money will go to support good causes across the Channel Islands:

“Each year the Christmas Lottery raises large amounts of money to help local projects and good causes and we know that charities throughout the Channel Islands are extremely grateful to everyone who supports the Christmas game.

"With a month to go until this year’s draw it’s clear that, once again, the Christmas Lottery is proving extremely popular, with many people buying tickets in the hope of winning some life-changing amounts of cash in time for Christmas. At the same time, every ticket sold is going to provide funding to a wide range of local organisations."

The draw is less than a month away - on Thursday 17th December.
