Booster Jabs For 30-39 Year-Olds Brought Forward

Islanders in their 30s will be able to book a Covid-19 booster jab from midnight.

Appointments are being brought forward to help as many people as possible get vaccinated sooner.

They weren't originally due to be available to that age group until January.

Jersey's Director of Public Health, Dr Peter Bradley, tells Channel 103 that being immunised is the best defence against the new omicron coronavirus variant:

"I'm really pleased to announce we're opening up bookings for 30-39 year-olds from midnight.

We're looking all the time to move the programme forward in the light of the new variant and are continuing to make really good progress with that.

We are going through each age group in turn, and while I can't give any more information on timescales at the moment, but clearly we would like to get everybody vaccinated as soon as we possibly can."

Vaccinations can be booked online or by calling the Coronavirus Helpline - 0800 735 5566.
