The body of a man found in Jersey waters on 15 January has been identified as a UK resident who was travelling to St Malo.
An off-island expert has formally identified the male as Timothy Mckenna, a British national in his 40s, who went missing on a ferry from Portsmouth to the French port four days earlier.
His body was discovered by a fishing trawler, prompting an investigation by the States of Jersey Police.
Mr Mckenna's family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
A spokesperson from Jersey Police says:
"The Police Coroner's Office can confirm that formal identification of the body that was brough to Jersey on the 15th of January has now taken place, the individual has been identified as Mr Timothy Mckenna, a UK resident travelling to St Malo.
"Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time."
