Bodies Of Two Fishermen Brought To Shore

Ports authorities in Jersey say two bodies found at the site of the sunken L'Ecume II fishing trawler have been brought to shore

Ports authorities say two bodies found at the site of the sunken L'Ecume II fishing trawler have been brought to shore.

The search vessel Freja has since returned to the area to continue to look for the third missing crewman.

Survey video footage and other sonar data will be examined by specialist teams in the coming days to further analyse the field of debris.

The vessel - commissioned by Ports of Jersey - has been working in the waters off the island's west coast since Sunday morning (11 December)

Skipper Michael Michieli and his Filipino crew Larry Simyun and Jervis Baligat were lost when their boat collided with the Commodore Goodwill freight ship last Thursday morning.

An extensive two-day search failed to find survivors.

The families continue to be supported by Family Liaison Officers.

An appeal to raise money for the families of Larry Simyunn and Jervis Baligat  - set up by the skipper's daughter Rebecca Michieli - has exceeded £95k.

The Bailiff's Island Appeal is raising money to support those affected by the maritime tragedy as well as those involved in the Haut du Mont explosion.
