BA Extends Heathrow Route Through Winter

British Airways will continue to fly between Jersey and Heathrow until at least next March.

The route has been confirmed on the airline's winter schedule.

It started as BA reduced its operations at Gatwick during the COVID-19 pandemic, as demand for travel slumped.

Ports of Jersey CEO Matt Thomas says it reflects the airline's confidence and ongoing commitment to the island:

"This certainty provides islanders and visitors with a choice of entry points into London, as well as an enhanced range of onward destinations. It also reflects British Airways confidence in Jersey as a destination and their ongoing commitment to the island."

He adds that passenger numbers have 'surged' in recent weeks, with 40,000 people passing through Jersey's Airport and Harbour.

That's the highest weekly total since the pandemic began.

Deputy Chief Minister, Senator Lyndon Farnham, says it's good news for the island:

"I am pleased for islanders and visitors that British Airways are continuing to operate to Jersey from London Heathrow, as this is a key gateway for Jersey.

"I would like to thank the Route Development Team at Ports of Jersey and British Airways for their work in ensuring this important connection for the Island is maintained. I believe this announcement further demonstrates the continuing appeal of Jersey as a strong destination among our much-valued airline partners."
