A New Appreciation For Jersey's Wildlife

Islanders are being invited to take a different approach to looking at Jersey's wildlife this Easter with the new Jersey Heritage trail.

The 'Wildlife Warriors' trail has been set up around Jersey Heritage's castles and attractions, encouraging families to engage more with Nature.

Nicky Lucas, Jersey Heritage’s Community Events Curator, says the outdoor spaces surrounding our historic buildings are a haven for a wide variety of flora and fauna.

"It’s generally acknowledged that getting out and about in Nature is good for our health and these trails are mutually beneficial as they will also teach youngsters why it is so important that we protect our natural environment."

Sites included are Mont Orgueil Castle, Hamptonne Country Life Museum, Elizabeth Castle and La Hougue Bie.

Each attraction has a different theme including lizards, birds, trees and minibeasts.

Islanders are also asked to bring their pens and pencils to reduce single-use waste.

The activity challenge will be available until 16 April.
