36°C was recorded at Jersey Airport yesterday, matching the previous high in 2003.
Jersey Met originally predicted highs of 35°C, but did say it could go 1°C either way.
A combination of low and high pressure drew up exceptionally hot air across the Channel Islands, resulting in the spike in temperatures.
35.7°C was recorded at the Maison St Louis Observatory, but that was beaten at the Airport.
A record breaking day yesterday. The July maximum temperature record at Maison St Louis Observatory was broken. The temperature of 36.0°C at Jersey Airport equaled the all time record for the island. Here are the official figures from our recording sites. pic.twitter.com/467560OwSW
