Condor Passenger Sailings To Resume Next Month?

Condor Ferries sailings to and from Jersey could resume as early as June.

The ferry operator says it plans to resume passenger services to St Malo and the UK later next month, as long as border, quarantine and travel restrictions are lifted as expected.

Initially, sailings from Jersey to the UK are planned on Saturdays and Mondays, while ferries to France will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Condor CEO, Paul Luxon, says the company has always been committed to resuming sailings as soon as travel constraints are lifted:

"We are hoping to start from the earliest date possible. I am sure there will be further developments in our services in due course."

He added that the company is looking to reduce the size of the crew on Condor’s high-speed vessels - the Liberation and Rapide - due to the 'extraordinary' times facing the business.

"We understand this will be unwelcome news for our colleagues but this unprecedented pandemic has had a severe impact on the company. We have made this decision with a heavy heart and are working with those individuals affected to make the most appropriate arrangements for them."

The company says ferry sailings to and from Guernsey are likely to resume later in the year, due to the Bailiwick's stricter lockdown restrictions.
