Travel Trident Sole Operator On The Herm Route

Herm Island has taken its own ferry out of service after an agreement was reached with Travel Trident, for it to be the only operator.

Herm bought its own ferry in 2021 for around £750,000 to provide a service for hotel guests.

Now, Herm Island and the Travel Trident company have agreed to a new contract.

For the next five years, Travel Trident will provide a year-round service from Guernsey.

The CEO of Herm, Craig Senior, says the new agreement is good news:

"As of today, Travel Trident will be our primary number one ferry operator to and from the island of Herm, providing a service and standard that Herm residents and guests require.

For the last 3 or 4 years we've tried to sit around a table with Trident to try to find a neutrally acceptable arrangement and thankfully all parties managed to do that and come to a satisfactory conclusion.

It's a 364-day contract with the exception of Christmas Day, 7 days a week.

Probably an upgraded schedule from historic years so we'll have more weekend sailings - this is what we wanted and requested."

The agreement means Herm's ferry has been taken out of service immediately. Its future is uncertain.
