Tech and weather issues for Guernsey's airline, Aurigny

A combination of mechanical problems with two regional aircraft and a spate of fog and poor visibility cancel or delay flights.

Aurigny says it is using all its available fleet to keep its schedule going, including its smaller Dornier aircraft, which normally operate the Alderney routes.

It has been a difficult week for the airline, after two of its regional ATR aircraft were taken out of operation due to technical issues.

The aircraft that it leases from Jump has been flown by its crew to the ATR base in Toulouse for a landing gear replacement.

Added to this, Aurigny's latest addition to its fleet, G-PEMB, was taken out of service after just one day due what the airline describes as 'teething problems' following a maintenance check. G-PEMB is now back in service.

The weather in the Bailiwick this summer has been poor, with several days of fog over the past few weeks that has delayed or cancelled flights.

Today (16 August), Aurigny has delayed its flights from Guernsey to Gatwick, London City, Stansted and Southampton, mainly due to poor visibility.
