Storm Arwen Could Bring Force 10 Winds

Red weather warnings are in place across the Channel Islands as winds from the north are picking up.

Storm Arwen is due to peak around 6am.

Officials in Guernsey are asking that people with boats moored on the west side of the island check and secure them as soon as possible.

Jersey officials are also asking boat owners to ensure their vessels are parked in the marina.

They are making the recommendation as the storm force winds are coming from the north. They say this is unusual so moorings on the west coast may less secure than others.

Islanders are also advised to avoid going in the sea for things like swimming or water sports until at least tomorrow (27 November).

Garden furniture and smaller items should also be secured.

Some Condor Ferries crossings have been cancelled due to the weather.

Jersey Coastguard is asking that people avoid the coast and be especially careful if they are attempting to watch the storm.
