Ride Of Respect On Sunday

Guernsey Bikers Group to show their respect to front line and essential staff in fighting Covid-19 with a bike ride.

On 5 July 2020, the Guernsey Bikers Group will be taking part in the ‘Ride of Respect’ starting at Vistas Café.

The ride, which will head north along the coast road will end at the Bulstrode Entrance of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Nemer Kharroubi, an Emergency Department doctor who has coordinated the ride, said: ‘The purpose of this ride is to acknowledge the great work that has been carried out by frontline and essential staff to fight the impact of COVID-19 in the Bailiwick.

'We will arrive at the PEH at around 11.30 where we will perform a symbolic 2 minute clap for these essential staff in gratitude for all that they have done for the Bailiwick in the past few months.’

Guernsey Police will be escorting the Guernsey Bikers Group on the ride and Ambulance and Fire and Rescue staff have been invited to attend with blue light vehicles on Sunday.

Politicians and senior staff from the States of Guernsey who have been key in managing the Bailiwick’s response to COVID-19 will also be present at the hospital to greet the riders as they arrive.
