Over 50s Can Now Get Flu Jab

People aged 50 to 64 will be contacted by their GPs to have the flu vaccine.

The next phase of flu vaccinations in the Bailiwick is being rolled out.

Islanders between the ages of 50 and 64 are to be offered the jabs following the arrival of the latest batch of vaccines.

The jabs will be administered via Primary Care flu vaccination clinics and surgeries will be contacting patients in that age group to make an appointment.

The States will fund the cost of the vaccine, as well as £7 towards the fee for administration.

"This year it is more important than ever to ensure that islanders take up the offer of the vaccination against seasonal flu. We have had an excellent take up so far this year from those aged over 65 and those identified as 'at risk'.

"We would really encourage islanders to have the flu vaccine this year so we can ensure our community receives the protection it brings. Having the vaccine protects us both as individuals and the wider community by limiting the spread of the virus." - Jo Rocha, Health Protection Nurse from HSC Public Health.
