Milder & Wetter Than Average Spring

Spring in the Channel Islands was milder and wetter than average.

Both Jersey and Guernsey recorded more rain than is usual for the season, and despite going into a drought from mid-May until just last weekend.

Guernsey had 45 millimetres more than the 30 year average, and Jersey had 37 millimetres more.

Guernsey's spring was slightly duller, with 18 hours less sunshine.

But Jersey had 37 hours more sunshine, and more than a 100 hours more than Guernsey did.

The average temperature for the season was 10.4 C in Guernsey and 11.4 in Jersey.

The highest temperate recorded throughout the month of May was just 17.2 Celsius in Guernsey and 20 C in Jersey.
