Medical Transfers From Herm & Sark

Credit: St John Ambulance & Rescue

The St John Marine Ambulance made two medical transfers on Saturday (26 August) - picking up patients in Herm and Sark within a matter of hours of each other.

Herm Community First Responders called out the Flying Christine III to a patient with a medical condition in need of hospital treatment.

The marine ambulance arrived at Rosaire steps within 15 minutes, shortly after 10am, and the crew was taken to the patient by the Herm constable.  The patient was taken to the Flying Christine for transfer to St Peter Port.

Around two hours later, the marine ambulance was deployed to Sark at the request of the Sark doctor.

The boat was met at the harbour by the Sark ambulance and a patient was transferred to St Peter Port and onwards to the Emergency Department of the PEH.

The Flying Christine III - operated by expert volunteers and crewed by a paramedic-led medical team from Guernsey's emergency ambulance service -  has been called out four times in eight days, having been deployed to Herm last Wednesday and to Alderney the previous Friday (18 August).
