"So far so good!" -Bailiwick Of Guernsey Law Enforcement round up Day One of Lock Down.
"In short, it has been absolutely fine.
People really are not out. And that's fantastic, we're really grateful to everyone for listening to the message and staying home.
This instruction was made to protect our community and by adhering to it, you're saving lives.
A few of the scenarios we have come across today have a similar thread, so we just want to reiterate that you can only go out under certain circumstances. The advice is below.
When you do go out, remember your social distancing and don't accidentally end up congregating with people who aren't part of your household. We get it, it's perfectly normal to go up to your friends when you see them out and have a chat. But we don't live in normal times - so keep your distance from those you don't share a house with.
Also, don't call JESCC asking whether you can go to work - they're not there for that. For Coronavirus clinical questions: 756938 or 756969 and non-clinical questions: 717118 or [email protected]
Oh and, absolutely don't forget to wash your hands when you get home for at least 20 seconds with warm, soapy water. In fact, do that throughout the day.
Thanks again everyone - let's tackle day two with the same community spirit.
Remember: we're in this together, not in it for ourselves."
People should only leave home for one of four reasons:
* Shopping for basic necessities such as food and medicine, but as little as possible.
* Up to two hours exercise a day, to include walking, cycling, running or sea swimming or other open sea activities alone or with people you live with. Those who go sea swimming have to do it with someone else present for safety reasons, but they must comply with social distancing.
* Any medical need, if told to by a healthcare worker or told to having called 999, or to provide care or help a vulnerable person.
* Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home.
