How Guernsey remembers...

The 2024 Poppy Appeal has launched in Guernsey, with paper flowers that you can attach to your clothing being sold in local shops.

The poppy has been used as a symbol of remembrance for more than 100 years.

In recent years, the appeal has risen £50,000 annaully for the Royal British Legion, which supports ex-service personnel with medical treatment, or housing.

On 10 November, Remembrance Sunday, a parade will take place from the Town Fire Station to the War Memorial on Smith Street.

The ex-servicemen and women, cadet forces, and standards from local organisations will march from 10.35 am.

A bugler will sound the Last Post at 10.58 am, followed by two minutes of silence.

Then there will then be a short service and wreath laying.
