Guernsey's States is giving £150,000 to Islands Unlimited as it works on a summer, inter-islands boat service.
The company plans to run a 200 seater passenger vessel between Guernsey and Jersey twice daily from June, and three times a day at weekends.
The operator announced its planned summer schedule earlier this month, and said it was in the process of securing a suitable vessel.

Guernsey's Economic Development Committee has agreed to provide financial support.
Committee president Deputy Neil Inder said:
"Ensuring that there are various options and carriers to facilitate inter-island sea connectivity is increasingly important and Islands Unlimited proposal to bring into service a 200-seat capacity high speed vessel the summer presents the islands with a very exciting and much needed opportunity.”
Islands Unlimited is run by former Guernsey Harbour Master Captain Chad Murray, who has welcomed the government support:
“The Islands Unlimited team are incredibly pleased to have financial support from the Committee for Economic Development which is demonstrative of the States’ commitment to enabling good connectivity
Captain Murray told us he wants to provide confidence to islanders that they can organise regular travel between the islands.
"The Islands Unlimited Team are working hard to ensure that we can deliver on our published schedule in 2025, and we very much look forward to releasing further information when it becomes available about our services and welcoming you on board.”
Last October, the governments of Jersey, Guernsey and Sark provided financial support totalling 370,000 euros to Normandy-based ferry company Manche Iles Express to support its services this season.
Guernsey's ferry services provider Brittany Ferries will run a weekly sailing from Guernsey to Jersey on Wednesdays, but there has been no announcement yet from Jersey's operator DFDS on a Guernsey route.
