Guernsey family launches fundraiser to treat daughter's brain injury

A local family are asking people in Guernsey for their help to raise €18,000, so their baby girl can receive 'life-changing' treatment.

Margo Brehaut was born on 9 September 2023, alongside her two identical sisters.

The triplets shared a placenta, and because of complications they were delivered via C-section at around 31 weeks.

All three were cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit for some time, but Margo's health remains a concern.

Her mum, Naomi Foley, says oxygen deprivation damaged Margo's brain.

Naomi has set up a GoFundMe Page to afford to take Margo to the Netherlands for stem cell treatment.

The blood transfusion, offered by CBC Health, has the potential to replace damaged cells in brain injury patients.

Naomi hopes this will make Margo's quality of life 'considerably better'.

"She is currently sleeping most of the day and isn't that alert.

I am hoping the treatment will lower the number of seizures she is having, and make her more aware of us and her surroundings.

It would allow her to engage in activities more, particularly with the family, and make me less stressed about keeping on top of her medications.

My ultimate goal is that she is able to recognise us and smile more."

The treatment will cost €18,000, plus travel and accommodation.

Naomi hopes the Guernsey community will help her family afford this, as she is currently off work looking after her triplets.
