Ferry Disruption For Christmas Travellers

There is travel disruption for islanders going away for Christmas by ferry.

Condor is adding sailings and rescheduling services because of 'challenging and changeable weather conditions'.

Winds of 50 knots and wave heights above five metres in the English Channel are forecast at times in the coming days.

There will be extra high-speed crossings today (Wednesday 21 December), and some passengers are bringing forward their trips to make sure they get away.

A further additional service will operate between Jersey and France on Thursday morning (22 December).

Operations Director Elwyn Dop says they're aiming to get everyone to their destination within 24 hours of their original booking, as well as making sure freight supplies arrives in time for Christmas.

"The forecast has and continues to be really changeable, so using the best available data at the time, we have been prudent by contacting travellers in advance to notify them of the potential for disruption and to offer alternatives wherever possible."

Details of the changes can be found on the Condor Ferries website.
