Closed-Door Meeting Ahead Of Confidence Vote

Deputy Peter Ferbrache has invited colleagues to a summit at Beau Sejour today (11 December).

The head of Policy & Resources says Guernsey politicians need to discuss the 'significant issues' the island is facing, regardless of the outcome of the upcoming vote of no confidence in the senior committee.

In a letter to all States members, he says the shortage of housing, dwindling public finances, and the future of education will be on the meeting agenda.

The latter of which he calls an 'intolerable situation' as the post-16 transformation project remains defunded.

He writes that an 'open and constructive' conversation needs to take place so the next 18 months of the term can be productive.

The vote of no confidence debate started on 24 November but was adjourned until Wednesday this week (13 December).
